  • 🌊 A Call to Action: Protecting Children on the Mediterranean Migration Route 🌊 The Mediterranean has become a graveyard for thousands of people seeking safety and a better future. In 2024 alone, over 2,200 lives have been lost on these perilous migration routes, with nearly 1,700 deaths on the central Mediterranean route. Heartbreakingly, one in five of these migrants are children, many fleeing violent conflict and poverty. As UNICEF has highlighted, this crisis demands urgent action. Every life lost is a failure to uphold the values of humanity and human rights. Governments must: 🛡️ Prioritise child protection by ensuring safe, legal pathways for migration and family reunification. 🚤 Establish coordinated search and rescue operations to prevent further loss of life. 🛬 Guarantee safe disembarkation and dignified community-based reception, with access to asylum services. 💙 Invest in essential services for arriving children and families, including healthcare, education, psychosocial support, and legal aid. But beyond addressing immediate needs, we must tackle the root causes of migration: the poverty, violence, and instability forcing families to embark on such dangerous journeys. Integration and community support are also critical to ensuring the rights and dignity of children at every stage of their journey. At UBB, we echo UNICEF's call and reaffirm our commitment to standing with vulnerable children and families. No child should have to risk their life for a chance at safety. Let’s work together to build a world where migration is safe, legal, and dignified for all. #SaveTheChildren #MigrationCrisis #Mediterranean #ChildRights #ProtectChildren #SDG10 #UBB

  • 🌍 Save Sudan: A Call for Solidarity on Sudan’s Independence Day 🇸🇩 📍January 1st holds deep significance for many around the world. For some, it marks the beginning of a new year, a time of celebration, renewal, and resolutions. But for the people of Sudan, this day is far more than just a calendar marker. It is Sudan’s Independence Day, a day that once symbolized hope, freedom, and the birth of a sovereign nation in 1956. 😔 However, in recent years—and especially now—the reality for millions of Sudanese people stands in stark contrast to the promise of independence. Instead of hope and celebration, the streets of Sudan are filled with fear, displacement, and the echoes of a nation struggling under the weight of escalating violence, humanitarian crises, and economic instability. A Nation in Crisis Sudan is currently experiencing one of the worst crises in its modern history. 🫂 As we celebrate the dawn of 2025, it’s important to remember that Sudan’s Independence Day is a powerful reminder of the resilience, strength, and aspirations of the Sudanese people. It is a day to reflect not only on their history but also on their present struggles and their hope for a better future. ✊🏾 This January 1st, while many of us make resolutions for ourselves, let us also make a collective resolution to stand with Sudan. Let us recognize their pain, amplify their voices, and commit to meaningful action to support those who need it most. 📢 Share: Amplify our message by sharing this post and using the hashtag #SaveSudan to keep the conversation alive. ❤️ As we look at the new year, let us not forget the values that unite us: compassion, humanity, and the belief that every life matters. Together, we can ensure that their voices are heard and their struggles are not forgotten. 🇸🇩 On this Sudan Independence Day, let us honor their resilience by standing with them, side by side, in their fight for peace, stability, and dignity. 🤝🏾 Sudan’s fight is our fight. Their hope is our hope. Together, we can make a difference. • 🌍 Protecting Migrants: A Call to Action 🛡️ Migration is not just a statistic—it represents the resilience and courage of millions seeking hope, dignity, and opportunity. Yet, as the UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed highlighted, migrants face unimaginable risks, including violence, xenophobia, and systemic inequities. 📊 Staggering Statistics: Nearly 8,600 migrant deaths were recorded last year alone—the deadliest year on record. Since 2014, over 70,000 deaths have been documented along migration routes, with many more unaccounted for. 🛠️ A Roadmap for Change: The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration (GCM) offers actionable solutions: Strengthening search and rescue efforts on land and at sea. Fostering international cooperation along migration routes. Providing justice, accountability, and support mechanisms for migrants and their families. 🌱 Transformative Potential: When well-governed, migration becomes a driver of inclusive growth and societal progress. This aligns directly with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, emphasizing equity, safety, and opportunity for all. At Unity Beyond Borders, we stand united in advocating for the rights and dignity of migrants everywhere. Let’s work together to build pathways to safety, justice, and hope. #MigrationMatters #SafeMigration #HumanRights #UnityBeyondBorders #GlobalGoals

  • 🌍 Every 10 Minutes, a Woman is Killed: Time for Urgent Action This year, a harrowing report by UN Women and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) reveals that in 2023 alone, 140 women and girls were killed daily by their partner or close relative—equating to one woman every 10 minutes. The report, released on the 25th anniversary of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, highlights the global crisis of femicide and the urgent need for action. Key Findings: 🔹 Africa recorded the highest femicide rates, with 21,700 women killed in 2023. 🔹 Europe and the Americas reported most cases linked to intimate partners, reflecting systemic cultural disparities. 🔹 A sharp decline in data collection hampers accountability: Only 37 countries reported data in 2023 compared to 75 in 2020. Call to Action: As the 16 Days of Activism Campaign begins, with the theme “Every 10 minutes, a woman is killed. #NoExcuse.”, we must take action to eliminate violence against women: 1️⃣ Enact and enforce robust legislation to combat femicide. 2️⃣ Invest in systematic data collection to track trends and enforce accountability. 3️⃣ Ensure adequate funding for women’s rights organizations and institutional support. 4️⃣ Create safe reporting mechanisms for survivors to seek justice. 5️⃣ Build a zero-tolerance culture toward gender-based violence. The UBB Foundation stands with global efforts to protect women’s lives and create safer communities. Violence against women is preventable, but it requires all of us to unite and act. Let’s work together to ensure a future free of violence for women and girls everywhere. #EndFemicide #16DaysOfActivism #NoExcuse #HumanRights #SDG5 #StopViolence

  • 🌍 Advancing Women's Role in Peace and Security As conflicts persist globally, women and girls continue to bear disproportionate burdens, facing risks of gender-based violence and being underrepresented in peace negotiations. The UN’s latest report highlights eight key steps to empower women in peace and security roles: 1️⃣ Increase women’s participation in peace negotiations 2️⃣ Repeal discriminatory laws 3️⃣ Strengthen decision-making power 4️⃣ Hold rights violators accountable 5️⃣ Preserve women’s rights post-mission 6️⃣ Protect peace and political activists 7️⃣ Support survivors of conflict-related violence 8️⃣ Prioritize peace over military spending At Unity Beyond Borders, we stand with the UN in advocating for these vital steps to ensure women’s voices and rights are central to peacebuilding and security worldwide. Together, let’s work towards a world where women are empowered to lead in building sustainable peace. #WomenPeaceSecurity #EmpowerWomen #UBB #HumanRights #SDG5 #SDG16

  • 🌍 Sudan’s Crisis Deepens: Civilians Urgently Need Protection The conflict in Sudan has escalated into one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Violence between rival militaries has displaced over 11 million people, creating severe food insecurity and cutting off access to essential aid in many regions. Innocent civilians, including women and children, are bearing the brunt of this conflict, facing threats of violence, hunger, and lack of medical care. Unity Beyond Borders joins the UN in urgently calling for a ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid to reach those in need. Only through an immediate cessation of hostilities and committed peace efforts can we protect lives and restore hope for Sudan’s people. #SudanCrisis #HumanitarianAid #ProtectCivilians #PeaceForSudan #SDG16 #SDG2
