✨What Our Patients Have To Say✨ Selina Kidd’s advice to patients considering inpatient rehab is, "If you are eligible and there is space for you, take it!" Selina was with us for about a month and also says, "This place got me on my two feet!" Additionally, Selina is a retired RN who knows good care when she sees it. Her review of her experience at UMRH is "nothing but positives." She says, "When people are in the right position and like their job, they do it well, and these people do." She went on to say, "They are very patient even if I’m not always patient," and "They know what they’re doing and they do it well." When asked if she would like to give a shout-out to any staff member who stood out, she replied, "Gwen (RN) is a saint. It doesn’t matter who she’s assigned to; if she is coming down the hallway or happens to see me, she’d pop her head in the door to say hello and let me know she would check on me soon… You can be in someone’s company that you know you can let in your heart, she’s like that." During Selina’s time as an RN, she took much pride and fulfillment in her work. She "would not leave her shift until she got a smile out of somebody," and she is certainly still putting smiles on faces. Selina was a delight to work with, and it has been our pleasure to serve you, Selina! #registerednurselife #inpatientrehab #physicaltherapy #patienttestimonial

Meet Michelle and her service dog, Mojeaux! 🐾❤️ Michelle was serving in the military twelve years ago when she suffered a severe back injury that has led to eight reconstruction surgeries in the years since. While some pain is part of every day life for Michelle, in May her pain increased to such a degree to cause her alarm so she promptly went to her neuro clinic. Not long after her arrival she experienced a loss of feeling and movement in her legs. In the interim of her anticipated diagnosis, Michelle has spent two weeks at UMRH working on upper body strength and weight bearing on her legs. She even walked 25 ft with a walker and two assistants. Michelle had great things to say about UMRH; having had five rounds of rehabilitation before, she definitely has had a wide array of experience and says UMRH is one of the best! Most notably, Michelle appreciates the freedom to go around the facility and not having to be confined to her room outside of therapy hours. She says the doctors, nurses and therapists are fantastic and stressed how well she is listened to. Her advice to future patients is to set goals, recognize that it will take some time, and to take it moment by moment. She says to try to always find the positive in what sometimes can be frustrating challenges. She says to "find the win in the day", and that "there will always be a win". 📸Pictured here is Michelle and her faithful service dog, Mojeaux. During Michelle's stay at UMRH, Mojeaux has been by her side 24/7 and his presence has proven to be a delight to other patients and staff alike. When Michelle met Mojeaux through the TADSAW program he went by another name at that time. She deliberated on what to call him instead, Michelle's mom, Theresa, said, "Didn't we come here to find something to give you your mojo?" And that was it! Michelle named him Mojeaux. ❤️ Michelle has Mojeaux by her side and gives off mojo from within as the positive and resilient person she is. We are rooting for you Michelle!! #trainadogsaveawarrior #serviceanimals #rehabilitationhospital #physicaltherapy
