#UNGA79 has wrapped. Grateful to engage counterparts from around the world, including Ukraine, Argentina, Peru, Guinea, Thailand, and Vietnam, on critical priorities from human rights and humanitarian cooperation to safe, orderly, and humane migration and human-centered security. Key highlights include: -- Announcing nearly $199 million in humanitarian assistance for Rohingya refugees and their host communities and nearly $535 million for the humanitarian crisis in Syria and nations hosting Syrian refugees. In total, the United States announced nearly $2.1 billion in new humanitarian assistance last week. -- Affirming U.S. commitment to fighting conflict-related sexual violence in Sudan and elevating women’s participation in peace processes and relief efforts at a high-level event, co-hosted by the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and the Kingdom of the Netherlands with brave Sudanese women leaders. -- Joining Dr. Jill Biden and Special Envoy Jessica Stern at the high-level LGBTI Core Group ministerial, co-hosted by Argentina and the Netherlands, where countries from across the globe affirmed their commitment to equality, inclusion, and to “Leaving No One Behind.” -- Underscoring how peace, prosperity, and security flourish when we invest in nations driving game-changing reforms and involve civil society at the high-level USAID-hosted side event, “Democracy Delivers”. And as President Biden stated, we are stronger together than alone.

We can and must prioritize gender-based violence prevention and response and stop conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) in Sudan, the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. The United States has provided over $2 billion to the emergency response in Sudan and neighboring countries. Thank you to the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and to the brave Sudanese women leaders for rallying #UNGA79 against #CRSV in Sudan and to hold perpetrators accountable.
