Dr. Samuel Ostrum, Assistant Professor of Abdominal Imaging at UNC, has had a dynamic journey leading him to academic medicine. He received his medical doctorate from Ohio State University in 2017. He completed his Diagnostic Radiology residency and an Abdominal Imaging Fellowship from Duke University. Dr. Ostrum returned to the state after working at Vanderbilt University, drawn by personal ties and the vibrant academic opportunities in the Triangle. Alexandra “Alex” K. Banathy, MD, joins UNC Radiology as an Assistant Professor in the Interventional Radiology division. She graduated with her bachelor’s from Vanderbilt University in 2014 and her Medical Doctorate from Penn State College of Medicine in 2018. She completed her surgical internship in 2019 and her Interventional/Diagnostic Radiology Integrated Residency at the University of Virginia in 2024.
