  • *plays “This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” by Taylor Swift* Concealing sharp objects in your shoes? During our busy #HolidayTravel period? There are rules when you show up here. 😊 Incredible job by #TeamTSA at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) who intercepted a razor blade that was hidden inside the lining of a traveler’s shoe over the weekend. Here’s a toast to our real friends (yes, we’re looking at you), who’ve followed along all year and know better than to conceal knives, razor blades, or other sharp objects inside their shoes.

  • Tis the Season for Surprises! ✈️🎁 Looks like Santa’s elves aren't the only ones packing some unexpected items this holiday season! Last week, #TeamTSA officers at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) discovered a sleigh full of prohibited items hidden in a traveler's carry-on. Like, 82 consumer-grade fireworks, for starters. Not to mention the knives, replica firearms, and pepper spray. Whatever the reasons were for a passenger bringing this to our checkpoint, well, it couldn't have been so holly jolly. “The sheer number of prohibited items discovered in a single carry-on bag is extremely concerning,” said LAX TSA Federal Security Director Jason Pantages. #HolidayTravel tip: Keep your gifts festive, but please leave the questionable items behind. (And please, save your fireworks for a place that isn't an airport. Thanks!) Full story: https://lnkd.in/e5th5EG2

  • Not even the creators of Secure Flight could have predicted the seismic stats coming from the program 20 years after its inception. Get this: From July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, over 1 BILLION total passengers were prescreened. On its surface, Secure Flight is an easy and straightforward concept; prescreen passengers before they arrive at the airport, expedite low-risk traveler screenings and keep those with ill intent out of the secure area. “It’s common to hear around the office, ‘The bad guys only have to get it right once. We have to get it right every time.' When someone says, ‘there is only a one in a million chance of that happening,’ that means it could happen two or three times a day considering the volumes we process," said Industry Performance & Analysis Section Chief Lynn Root. • Take this as your sign to take extra time preparing before your next work trip! We’ve all been there but airport mistakes in front of your boss can be extra embarrassing… don’t get caught bringing ranch instead of your work bag. Slow down, pack smart, and if you don’t know which bag to put something in please reach out to AskTSA by texting your travel questions to 275-872. #WorkMemes #PepeTheKingPrawn #AskTSA

  • If you've been following us on our other social media accounts, you'll know that we're in the midst of posting our "12 Days of Travel Tips" to help you, holiday travelers, during what's always a very busy time at airports. ✈️ Today, we're spreading some of that holiday cheer over here! 📣 One of the questions we're asked most often this time of year is about traveling with gifts.
