Congratulations to DAISY Award winner Felix Ashionio, RN. 🌼🏆 The DAISY Award (The DAISY Foundation) is a nationwide program that rewards and celebrates the clinical skill and compassionate care nurses give daily. St. Joseph’s Health Hospital is proud to be a DAISY Award Hospital Partner, recognizing our nurses with this special honor. Felix, a PACU Nurse at St. Joseph’s Health Hospital, made a lasting impression on a patient recovering from surgery. The patient shared their experience: “I came out of surgery and started to wake up but was struggling with managing my pain. At one point, I woke up in such pain I didn’t know what to do. I could hear Felix talking to the doctor and reached for his hand because I was so uncomfortable and scared. I received more medication and went back to sleep holding Felix’s hand.” The patient praised Felix for his calm presence and compassion, highlighting how he stayed by their side to ensure their comfort and safety. “When I woke up the next time, Felix was still holding my hand. He pulled his computer and stool closer to me and was charting with the other hand.” The patients noted that Felix helped manage the physical pain and took the time to take care of them as a person. They said, “I wouldn’t have known if he had stopped holding my hand, and I would have understood he had a job to do, but he chose to take his time to make me feel comfortable and safe.” The patient expressed deep gratitude: “I would have Felix as my nurse again and again. Thank you for taking care of all of me.” Thank you, Felix, for exemplifying extraordinary care. St. Joseph’s Health is proud to recognize nurses like you who go above and beyond every day.
