About us
Our story began in 1946 with the collaboration of former US Army Corps of Engineers Officers, Hue Thomas and Joe Hutton, in their start-up engineering firm in Savannah, GA. Our founders envisioned tremendous opportunities in transforming the landscape and well-being of our communities by providing professional and consulting services to municipalities in the region, as well as private entities seeking to develop in the area. Today, Thomas & Hutton stands as one of the most well-respected and established multidisciplinary firms in the region, branching out to fifteen offices across ten regions in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. We provide comprehensive solutions to complex engineering and design challenges to a diverse group of private and public clients through professional consulting; civil, environmental, structural and marine, transportation, water resources, and water and wastewater engineering; surveying; planning; landscape architecture; geographic information system (GIS), and construction administration services. Thomas & Hutton offers a multidisciplinary range of services to pursue project success for clients in a variety of markets. We design with the future in mind. Congratulations to Hannah Ziegelmeyer, Civil Designer in our Nashville region, on passing her PE exam and officially becoming a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Tennessee! Hannah’s journey to this incredible milestone is truly inspiring. After graduating from Vanderbilt University and gaining valuable hands-on experience on construction jobsites, she joined Thomas & Hutton four years ago. Since then, Hannah has made remarkable contributions to a variety of projects across Tennessee, including urban commercial, residential, industrial, public infrastructure, and roadway design. Honoring the Heroes Behind the Scenes! We were honored to support the 165th Airlift Wing Military Spouses Appreciation Brunch on December 14th, recognizing the strength and sacrifices of military spouses. What an exciting milestone to achieve! This is a significant step forward for Archer and was made possible by the dedication, expertise, and collaboration of our industry-leading partners. We’ve completed construction of our ~400k sq ft high-volume manufacturing facility, ARC, located in Covington, GA. This facility will produce Midnight, our all-electric vertical take off and landing aircraft built for rapid, back-to-back flights across cities. We received the certificate of occupancy earlier this week and have begun tooling load-in ahead of our planned start of production at this facility in early 2025. Our goal is to ramp production from there to a rate of two aircraft per month by the end of the year. ARC was built in close partnership with Stellantis and we are continuing to progress our plans to mass-produce Midnight together. Stellantis is contributing capital, advanced manufacturing technology and experienced personnel with the goal of scaling this facility to 650 aircraft annually by 2030. We’re proud to be building our aircraft in Georgia, ensuring the next generation of advanced aircraft will be designed, engineered and manufactured here in the US. Office of Governor Brian P. Today’s #TransformationTuesday is in Charleston, SC, where our team has been hard at work on The Waterfront Phase 3, a project featuring two buildings with three stories of condominiums, totaling 30 luxury residences! The condominiums will range in size from 1,300 - 2,400 square feet. The buildings will share a courtyard and are just moments away from the water! We love how this project is coming together! 🎄 “A perfect Christmas usually involves our busyness being interrupted by someone’s need.” 🎄 Our team took a break from the hustle and bustle to give back to the community by volunteering at Harvest Hope Food Bank. Together, we packed an incredible 924 backpack food bags! These bags ensure children have meals over the weekend, providing much-needed support for families during this season of giving.
