Holiday Travel 2024 Last week, AAA published their Year-End Travel Forecast that projects 119.3 million people will travel 50 miles or more from home, a 2.8% increase in total number of travelers from last year. Due to the economy, many travelers have been seeking out other modes of transportation such as by car, bus, train, and others. In fact, the number of people traveling by modes beside flying are up 10% from last year, expecting 4.47 million people to travel by alternative modes, making this number the highest it’s been in 20 years!  In addition, @mastercard projects holiday spending to rise by 3.2%, driven by shifts in consumer behavior and preferences. For those traveling by air, flight booking data shows domestic flights are 4% more expensive and international flights 13% more expensive this holiday season compared to last year. Even with the increased fares, AAA expects air travel to set a new record this holiday season with 7.85 million passengers.
