As the year comes to a close, here’s one last reminder for large building owners: it’s your last chance to decarbonize your building for 2024 🏢 🌎 The first mandatory #LocalLaw97 filing deadline for reporting annual greenhouse gas emissions is fast approaching (May 1, 2025!!) and the steps you take now to decarbonize could make or break your building’s compliance with emissions standards. Potential penalties include up to $268 for EVERY metric ton of carbon dioxide your building emits above the cap set for its building type. On December 10, The Falcon Group had the honor of participating as a panelist at the SWFL Condo Symposium held at the Hyatt House in Naples. The panel focused on the latest developments regarding the Structural Integrity Reserve Study requirements and the Phase II aspects of the Milestone Structural Inspection requirements. With the compliance deadline approaching at the end of the year, associations are working to meet these requirements and are still grappling with numerous questions and challenges, which the panel addressed. Our Principal, Sinisa Kolar, P.E., FRSE, was joined by Varnum LLP, Reserve Advisors, LLC (Reserve Studies, Insurance Appraisals), and Sharpe Project Developments. The panel was both informative and engaging, with numerous questions from the attendees.
