Misogyny in Medicine A brand new UK report published today by the Westminster Women and Equalities Committee highlights the pervasive stigma associated with gynaecological and urogynaecological health. As reported by the BBC, it’s time for women’s health to become a “key priority.” The report, hot off the press, cites a recent survey by Endometriosis UK of 4,371 people who had received an endometriosis diagnosis in the UK. They found that almost half of the respondents had visited their GP 𝟭𝟬 𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 with symptoms before receiving their endometriosis diagnosis. Long, heavy, and painful periods are not normal and it's time for us to talk about them. The Essence App is here to help working women and people with cycles manage symptoms and track patterns that can be used to help shorten the time it takes to get a diagnosis or become aware of health issues. Is your company ready to help tackle the misogyny in medicine and empower employees to better advocate for their reproductive health? Reach out to us at letstalk@theessence.app to learn more. A brand-new paper published this week in Nature Human Behaviour highlights the importance of breaking stigmas surrounding menstrual health through a “multipronged approach.” From implementing menstrual health policies to addressing misinformation and ensuring access to period products in the workplace, there’s still much to do to advance gender equality and wellbeing. At Essence, we’re proud to be part of this shift in reshaping how society views periods and the menstrual cycle. As the authors emphasize: “We … need to improve access to resources for managing menstruation to reduce physical and emotional health consequences…” We’re here to help make that a reality. If you’re ready to explore how the Essence App can support your menstrual health or empower your employees, we’d love to hear from you. 🇺🇸 Essence stands with the American women and people with cycles who face an uncertain path forward for bodily autonomy in light of the US election results. "𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘥." We know that even in moments like this, there is resilience, there is solidarity, and there is a path forward. The Essence App is here to be a resource, empowering women and people with cycles to reclaim control over their bodies and instill hope for a future where autonomy is a given, not a battle. https://lnkd.in/dscRDEtp

Could you hike 2,197 miles in less than 41 days? In September, ultrarunner Tara Dower smashed the record for fastest completion of the Appalachian hiking trail in the United States. Only ten people have completed the Appalachian Trail in less than 50 days, and Tara is the fastest one of all and the only woman on the list. Her secret to success, according to Appalachian Trail expert Warren Doyle: “She put in longer workdays. It’s not about speed. It’s about endurance.” Women are capable of amazing things. For Tara, it’s not about beating men, it’s about finding our true potential as women. We share the same mission at the Essence App. In Tara’s words: “My hope is to inspire women and girls to go for that tough goal no matter if it’s with running or in life.”

18 October is World Menopause Day. Menopause and perimenopause can bring a wide range of symptoms, from hot flashes and fatigue to mood swings and sleep disturbances. While these challenges are often inevitable, there’s a growing body of research suggesting that adopting cycle syncing and wellbeing practices during reproductive years can make a significant difference. By understanding and aligning with the natural rhythms of our menstrual cycles, we can nurture our bodies and minds in a way that supports long-term health. Practices like: 🩸 Tracking your cycle to understand your unique hormonal fluctuations 🩸 Aligning nutrition, exercise, and rest with each phase 🩸 Managing stress and incorporating mindfulness into daily routines …can help reduce the intensity of perimenopause and menopause symptoms down the road. It’s not just about easing discomfort—it’s about empowering women to take charge of their health, feel more in control of their bodies, and embrace the transitions with confidence. 💪 Let’s continue supporting each other through every stage of womanhood. If you’d like to learn more about how to implement cycle-syncing and wellness practices in your own life, please reach out to us here at letstalk@theessence.app. We’d love to share about how the Essence App can help you prepare for the future. #WorldMenopauseDay #CycleSyncing #Wellbeing #HormonalHealth #WomensHealth #MenopauseAwareness #theEssenceApp
