About us

The Wily Network works with students who are navigating college independently. We offer weekly clinical coaching, financial assistance, community-building, and networking opportunities to help Wily Scholars move from surviving to thriving. Wily Scholars bring unique experiences, challenges, strengths and goals to the college journey. Some have experienced homelessness or foster care, some have been denied family support due to their sexual orientation or gender identity, some have lost their parents, and some have family members dealing with addiction, mental illness or incarceration. All are talented and motivated, and all are braving college on their own. Wily works to ensure Scholars have the tools and networks necessary to thrive in four-year residential colleges and transition successfully into post-college life.

Updates

  • It’s the new year, and we’ve officially handed out all these beautiful holiday gift bags that Deloitte made for Wily Scholars! After creating back-to-school care packages in the summer, the Deloitte team volunteered again this year, helping Scholars celebrate the holiday season with bags full of candy and gift cards for coffee or hot chocolate. Thank you, Deloitte!

  • Every year Wily Scholars get care packages to fuel them through the winter exam period. For the past seven years, a dedicated group of parents from Dedham Country Day School has come together to create care packages for Wily Scholars at Northeastern. Major thanks to Erin Epker, Sharisse Cail Perry, and Ellen Volpe for organizing this much appreciated support!

  • Holidays can be tough on students who do not have a place to go when dorms empty out, but Wily always has a place for Scholars. We were thrilled to gather with Scholars and alums for our “Packsgiving” celebration and our Gratitude Lunch. We are also looking forward to our winter holiday celebration—Scholars and alums are invited to join us for dinner on Christmas Eve, an overnight stay together at a hotel, and a brunch on Christmas Day. Check out some memories from holiday seasons past!

  • Earlier this month, we had the privilege of attending PwC’s Volunteer Fair, a fantastic opportunity to grow the Wily Pack! Our Communications and Grants Manager, Sophie, and Development Coordinator, Harshini, connected with PwC employees (including Wily Young Professionals Association member Quintia!), sharing the many ways they can volunteer to support Wily Scholars. We’re excited about the connections we made and look forward to future opportunities to highlight Wily’s mission to new groups.

  • Last month, the Wily Network hosted an unforgettable evening featuring Frank Bruni, New York Times columnist and best-selling author, alongside Wily alum Treasure Brooks. Treasure, serving as the evening's moderator, led an engaging conversation that captivated our audience and showcased how Wily supports Scholars. We are deeply grateful to CarGurus for hosting and sponsoring the event, as well as to our event committee, Wily staff, and dedicated volunteers who made this special night possible. • This Wily Wednesday is a bittersweet one. We are saying goodbye to Wily team member Harshini, who—after a year and a half as Wily’s Development Coordinator—is moving on from her role. Harshini has been the writer and designer behind our emails, newsletters, and social media. From streamlining behind-the-scenes administrative processes to conceiving and launching new public campaigns (like Wily Wednesdays!), her dedication and creativity have made an incredible mark on Wily. One of Harshini’s achievements has been leading the charge to re-energize our Young Professionals Association (YPA). Under her co-leadership, the association hosted a record number of in-person events and welcomed many new members this year. Thank you so much for all that you contributed to the Wily Pack, Harshini. We will miss you and can’t wait to see what you do next!
