Meet Dylan & Harper, two powerful friends and trailblazers (you probably already know them 🧡). We sat down with trans activist, actress, and influencer Dylan Mulvaney (she/they) and Harper Steele (she/her), writer and star of Netflix’s documentary film Will & Harper. In our exclusive blog, the two change-makers interviewed each other about their experiences as trans women and the rewards and challenges of living openly as their authentic selves. With the rights of transgender people being debated across the country, this conversation is more timely than ever. For Glorya (she/her), navigating being a mom to an LGBTQ+ child was a journey full of unlearning and realizations. Now Glorya and Trey (she/they) are sharing their story together to spread awareness of LGBTQ+ experiences and to inspire others to learn with love. 🧡 Watch episode 2 of Learn with Love live on YouTube now! 🔗: https://lnkd.in/dCCHpDmz

We’re thrilled to welcome mental health advocate and football legend, Carl Nassib (he/him), to our Board of Directors! When Carl came out as the first gay active player in the NFL, he directed all of the attention to The Trevor Project. Since then he has donated and fundraised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support our life-saving work, and continues to drive conversations around mental health in meaningful ways. Most recently, Carl joined Trevor’s Interim CEO, Peggy Rajski, to announce the Cleveland Browns’ round 2 draft pick. The broadcast reached screens across the country and many viewers learned about The Trevor Project’s lifesaving work and resources for the first time. We couldn’t be more proud to have Carl join Team Trevor on our Board of Directors! Congratulations Carl! 🧡 #Leadership #LGBTQ #TheTrevorProject #CarlNassib

We ended our 2024 U.S. National Survey asking LGBTQ+ young people to “share a message of advice or encouragement to other young people in the LGBTQ community.” The responses overwhelmingly remind us of the importance of peer support and affirmation. 🧡 With all of the current systematic and societal stressors, hearing words of encouragement from fellow LGBTQ+ young people has never been more needed. Check out the full research brief to read about peer-shared insights on resilience and get guidance on how to create more supportive environments in schools, families, and communities. “You Are Beautiful” - Advice and encouragement for LGBTQ+ young people from LGBTQ+ young people: https://lnkd.in/gKpCanDs

We recently had a candid conversation with Spencer Liff (he/him), the Director/Choreographer of DRAG: The Musical, on how representation on stage makes a big impact.🧡 “It’s not about pushing an agenda; it’s about celebrating individuality and showing kids that it’s okay to be themselves,” says Liff. DRAG: The Musical is centered around universal themes of chosen family, love, and acceptance—themes that anyone, queer or not, can relate to. According to Liff, DRAG: The Musical is the most authentic representation of drag artists seen in musical theater, tying in layers of navigating familial acceptance of queer identities and how representation makes a difference for LBGTQ+ young people. Inclusion is a human right. This #HumanRightsDay, we affirm the inherent dignity, humanity, and belonging of every LGBTQI+ person around the world. The Trevor Project and Outright International know that our queer, trans, and intersex community, especially LGBTQI+ young people, face barriers to achieving their basic human rights. According to The Trevor Project's 2023 U.S. National Survey, 60% of LGBTQI+ young people reported that they have felt discriminated against in the past year due to their sexual orientation or gender identity. According to Outright International, 68 countries and territories still criminalize LGBTQI+ people and only 36 out of 195 countries recognize same-sex marriage. We know that inclusion is a human right — and it's lifesaving. Because when inclusion happens, trans youth report lower suicide risk. Inclusive policies protect us and keep us all safe; our human rights are all affirmed. This Human Rights Day, we commit to creating a world where all LGBTQI+ people are safe from violence and discrimination, respected for who they are, protected by law, and included in all aspects of life. Join us in making inclusion a reality. Because human rights are LGBTQI+ rights. #HumanRightsDay #HumanRights #TheTrevorProject #OutrightInternational #LGBTQI #Inclusion
