Why is it counterintuitive for property management companies to skim commissions? 🤔 Our CEO, David Goldberg, recently discussed the issue of skimming commissions on maintenance contracts. As costs for materials and services rise, some property managers are turning to skimming as a way of increasing profits. In the News on the Block feature, David outlines why this strategy is not only unethical but also counterintuitive. Skimming can be especially hard to spot, causing many customers to face these charges unknowingly. In the article, David explains some signs to look out for to avoid paying more than necessary. The implications for property management companies are also discussed, with trust and reputational damage being highlighted. Last week, a client and I were lucky enough to be given a tour of this beautiful residential block in Marylebone. Not only is it a Grade 2 Listed Art Deco gem, but it’s also managed very well by the team at Michael Laurie Magar. It was certainly a joy to see the results of a lovely internal upgrade the building had recently undergone and one of the nicest lifts in town.
