🎉 What an incredible National Night Out (NNO) this year! 🎉 Our Hollowbrook resident leadership team, the Hollowbrook Trailblazers, truly shined this past Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, as they organized an outstanding National Night Out aimed at increasing safety awareness. With impressive planning and outreach skills, they secured sponsorships, while ONIC provided essential supplies and facilitated planning meetings to help coordinate the event. We were also joined by the City of Orlando Fire Department from Station 11, who engaged with residents to share vital safety information. In spite of the rain, the event continued into the evening with enthusiasm. One resident expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Fire Department for their life-saving assistance years ago. 💖 #OrlandoFireDept Additionally, we welcomed a former Hollowbrook resident now serving as a firefighter with the Orange County Government Fire Department. Their engaging discussion on fire safety raised awareness and promoted wellbeing in our community, highlighting the importance of events like these for the community. By fostering connections and trust between residents and local services, we are strengthening our neighborhoods and ensuring that communities with affordable housing remain safe and supportive environments for families. On September 24, we witnessed an incredible transformation at Palm Grove Gardens, thanks to over 250 enthusiastic volunteers! Under the Florida sun, volunteers from the community, Kellanova, and the KABOOM! team came together to build a brand new kid-designed playspace, complete with a playground, benches, a life-size chalkboard, a colorful mural, and three unique nature spaces—a butterfly garden, a medicinal garden, and an edible community garden. 🍓🌼 We want to extend our deepest gratitude to KABOOM!, Kellanova, our Board Chair Ericka Dunlap, Commissioner Shaniqua “Shan” Rose, Minecraft, Dr. Tiffany Manuel for your presence & support. This playground not only enhances our affordable housing initiatives but also ensures that all children, regardless of their zip codes, have access to creative and inspiring spaces to play. We are thrilled to announce that ONIC has been selected as the lead developer for the Piedmont Yard Apartments in Orlando's Holden Heights neighborhood. This transformative project, spanning 2.36 acres, aims to create a mixed-income, multi-family development that significantly expands affordable housing options in the city.
