  • A Note from Our Executive Director: Happy NYE, friends! 🥳 Shirnetta, here.. As we wrap up ANOTHER year of our critical mission, I stand absolutely amazed at what WE have been able to do, together. As a Founder, I have the humble opportunity to see NWNG grow from infancy to full blown growth and forward expansion that has impacted the lives of thousands. The NWNG Team that you see fulfilling our mission each day are the heartbeats of our impact. Our staff are literally the best on the planet! Women, girls and families continue to go without access to what they need to survive.. every. single. day. This is evident through our increase in programmatic impact, agency partners and crisis response. This year, we did many things. We hosted our Inaugural GIRLS Summer Institute, we developed a Disaster Relief & Recovery program, our volunteers grew exponentially, we launched our first Tampon Tuesday and so much more. 2025 is a big one. We need as many people as possible to continue answering the call and rolling up their sleeves. If you aren’t already involved with us, we need you. The thing that I constantly hear over and over again is the many ways that you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of someone else by simply choosing one way to get involved with NWNG. Host a drive, become a Monthly Keyholder, become a Dignity Hero, join the Birthday Club or serve at our Annual Women’s Day. Hope remains the anchor of our mission. You, too, can help to bring hope to someone experiencing crisis or homelessness in the new year. No one should EVER have to worry about a toothbrush, soap or tampons for their menstrual cycle. EVER. Can you help to bring hope in 2025? Stay tuned for our 2024 Impact Report and Happy New Year! With so much gratitude, Shirnetta Harrell Founder & Executive Director

  • As we near the end of 2024, it’s impossible for us to reflect on this year without acknowledging one of the most paramount moments of our organization’s history. This year, for the first time, we responded to Hurricane Helene, a catastrophic natural disaster that all took us collectively by surprise. In just 48 hours, our kits were on the ground and it’s something we’ll never, ever forget. Since September, we’ve seen more support than ever - locally, statewide and all over the country. We’ve continued to strategically mobilize our kits to counties in the Western part of NC each week through airlifts, partnering agencies, volunteers and other agencies. We’ve served Banner Elk, Bryson City, Asheville, Burnsville and Black Mountain. We’ve also responded to shelters and nonprofit organizations who have specific needs. We remain committed to the individuals and families who continue to recover from Hurricane Helene. 821 women and girls have access to what they need to survive a natural disaster. Our efforts will continue where the most need is. Thank you, American Red Cross + Duke Energy Corporation for your support and partnership since the very beginning of crisis response. To our amazing staff, volunteers, supporters and community partners, THANK YOU for being the core of our swift response to Hurricane Helene. Hope IS on the ground!

  • Happy Holidays from the NWNG Team! 🎄 These are the ladies who fearlessly make sure that women and girls are served day in and day out. Our offices will be closed December 21, 2024 - January 2, 2024. During the holiday season, we know crises are more likely to occur, especially during freezing nights. Therefore, all crisis referrals will be monitored and fulfilled within 72 hours. If you’re not already involved with us, we look forward to seeing you in 2025! Stay safe, everyone! #BringingHOPE

  • Friends, We did it! 🎉🎉 On Tampon (Giving) Tuesday, we met our $10,000 goal within just a few hours into the day. Thanks to an additional anonymous donor, we received another match to enable us to raise our goal. Community, you did not just double our impact. You tripled it. With over 190 donors, we raised over $25,000 in just 24 hours. We’ve never seen anything like this. Now, we’ll be able to ensure that 2,000 women, girls and families have access to menstrual products to survive a crisis. Thank you, thank you, thank you! 💗

  • We are less than 24 hours until Tampon Tuesday begins! 🥳 Tampon Tuesday is our fun and impactful spin on Giving Tuesday to raise awareness about the critical issue of period poverty that effects thousands of individuals each day. This year, we have 10 Ambassadors who have answered the call of action to advocate and lead the way. Already, our Ambassadors have raised over $6,000 toward our $10,000 goal. We’ve received a $10,000 Challenge Match from an anonymous family foundation. This means, when you help us meet our goal, we’ll be able to immediately DOUBLE our impact to provide menstrual products to 1,200 women and girls in 2025. Just $25 can support tampons and pads for 1 woman or school-aged girl experiencing a crisis for 30 days. Plan ahead or give NOW. https://lnkd.in/eJUzZvwq

  • ‼️ Have you marked your calendar?! 🥳 ‼️ According to a 2021 study by Kotex, 2 in 5 people struggle with period poverty in the US. Period poverty can negatively impact one’s physical and mental health, as well as productivity at work. Tampon Tuesday is our spin off on Tampon Tuesday and will enable us to ensure menstruating individuals have access to emergency period products to survive a crisis. We have received a generous challenge match of $10,000 by a family foundation that will remain anonymous. This means that if we reach our goal, we’ll able to DOUBLE our impact to ensure that we can provide 1,200 women and girls with access to emergency period products. The cost to cover just 1 referral for someone experiencing a crisis is $25. Get ready. Plan ahead. Tampon Tuesday is on the way! #TamponTuesday #GivingTuesday #NoWomanNoGirl https://lnkd.in/eJUzZvwq
