One of the highest honors you can receive in a professional career is the recognition from your peers that you have made a significant contribution to your profession. Yesterday, I received the W. Harold Petersen Lifetime Achievement Award from the International DI Society at our annual meeting in Nashville, TN. I am humbled by the outpouring of friendship, support, love from peers, associates, competitors whom I have known for years as word of this has spread. The financial services profession is unusual as competitors often get together at association meetings to share ideas to help the public. We often come to the aid of one another without compensation to help the other succeed. Friends from all over the country took time from their business and family to attend this meeting to learn from one another and share in my being recognized. Thank you to each and every one of you. A special thank you to Scott Delisi and Rick Mileham for treating us to dinner after a day or learning and recognition to a great dinner at Church and Union. Kevin Mayeux and Bob Herum addressed the group on the value of association membership and what we can accomplish together. I owe my success to those who mentored me. coached me, put up with me, and have supported me. My association memberships have returned value 100 times over. For all who read this and are in the profession - JOIN, the associations, the PACs. We need everyone to be involved. We only learn from one another when we are engaged and involved.
