James G. Jackson, the longest-serving and the first Black chief of the Columbus Division of Police died Thursday at the age of 91. Jackson, the namesake of the police division's training academy on Hague Avenue, was named police chief in 1990. He served more than 19 years before stepping down in 2009. Jackson’s career in law enforcement spanned more than five decades, all with Columbus police. Angela Pace, a Columbus icon, and longtime Director of Community Affairs at WBNS 10TV, is leaving the station in January, due to the station's parent company eliminating her department.
