About us
The CJEI strives to ensure that the messages of cannabis legalization, opportunity, and expungement reach the Communities Disproportionately Impacted (CDI) in New York. We assist those convicted of cannabis offenses in New York in clearing their records and enable workforce development in New York's cannabis industry, especially among those former impacted by anti-cannabis enforcement.

If you are still thinking about what actions you are going to take for Giving Tuesday, allow me to suggest that you make a donation to The CJEI (click this link: https://www.thecjei.org/ and then the "Donate Now" button at the top of the page). The CJEI is among the leading providers of cannabis expungement and workforce development efforts in New York. Our successes this past year have included a landmark judicial ruling which secured the proper procedure for cannabis conviction expungement in the state as well as graduating a cohort of returning citizens in our training program and deploying them at dispensaries throughout New York City. In order to continue these justice & equity efforts, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! Please donate now using the directions above, and if you are connected with philanthropic efforts which are able to donate larger amounts, please get in touch with us. Part 1 of a series of valuable quotes from our presenters during our community conversations! A big shout out to Robert Cornegy for sharing his wisdom from his travels abroad. He emphasized the importance of putting the cannabis industry in the hands of those who have been disproportionately incarcerated for its use. While world leaders and industry players have long recognized the cannabis industry’s potential to generate jobs and wealth, Mr. Cornegy called on us to start educating and mobilizing our communities to join the legal industry now. Let’s get the ball rolling and ensure our communities not only fuel this market but also dominate the ancillary industries that support it.

This past Saturday, September 28th, we gathered in the heart of Harlem for an inspiring community conversation, in partnership with Lead by Example, to discuss a future shaped by equity, justice, and collective power in the cannabis industry. We heard powerful testimonies from our very own CJEI legal team, our Co-Founder, local business owners, council members, and representatives from the NYC Department of Small Business Services. Together, we reflected on the work we've done and explored how we can bear the fruits of our labor by creating more jobs, accessing wealth, and building up our community. 🏗️💼 This isn’t just a conversation—it’s a movement. Let's continue coming together to ensure that those most impacted by unjust cannabis laws are the ones who benefit from the opportunities we’re creating. If you missed it, don’t worry! Mark your calendars and join us for our next event on Saturday, October 12th! 🗓️✨ #CommunityEmpowerment #CannabisEquity #BuildingWealth #JusticeInAction #HarlemCommunity #LeadByExample #SmallBusinessSupport
