Help arrived today from our friends at the DIAPER BANK OF NORTH CAROLINA - we have more diapers and an excellent supply of infant formula (all the good, sensitive, most requested kinds). #DiaperonNC

We recently had the gift of seeing something come full circle when we received a $10,000 from our friends at SRS Tire and Auto. The owners of this company participated in our diaper bank when their kids were small, and now are in a position to give back. They recently hosted a car show and auctioned a really cool Jeep and raised funds to support us and the automotive club at our local high school. What an inspiration! #diaperbank #diapers #earlychildhood #family #philanthropy #givingback https://lnkd.in/eC54s2_h

Today we celebrate our home-based child care providers and the friends, families and neighbors who help care for children so their parents can work or attend school. Licensed family child care homes and unlicensed FFNs (friends, family members and neighbors) are a critical part of a community’s child care infrastructure. Earlier this year, the Children’s Council, with support from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC Foundation started a home-based child care network to support these important child care providers. https://lnkd.in/eA2PMp-g #childcare #earlychildhood #earlychildhoodeducation #home #family MDC Home Grown All Our Kin, Inc. Our own local child care study shows the same struggle for Watauga County families! The Children's Council is proud to work with our partners at the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce and Watauga Economic Development for solutions for families in our community.
A study released today by the NC Chamber Foundation and NC Child found that child care has a $6 BILLION economic impact in NC and that 35% of employees have LEFT THE WORKFORCE because they cannot access quality, affordable child care. Access to quality, affordable child care is also a proven way to prevent child maltreatment and promote positive childhood experiences. Child care is good for #business, good for #families, and a great investment in our #children (our future #workforce). Positive Childhood Alliance North Carolina

We have long known that a child’s environment of relationships is critical for development. When we reduce sources of stress in a child and their caregiver's environment, we are supporting stronger, healthier child-caregiver relationships. We are focused on building positive childhoods for children in our community every day. Today we wear blue in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month knowing all children deserve to grow up in safe and nurturing environments where they are loved and well cared for. #wearblueday2024 Positive Childhood Alliance North Carolina
