Burns celebrates success at the 2024 WTS Philadelphia Sapphire Awards Gala! The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) and the supporting team received the 2024 Innovative Transportation Solution Award to recognize the Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) Speedline achieving 100% ADA compliance. This transformative project achieves 100% ADA compliance at all PATCO stations. Led by more than 14 women, it is a comprehensive approach to dignified, barrier-free public transit for passengers with impaired mobility. Solutions involved live customer support, demand-response passenger transport, new elevator installations, concourse extensions, ramp and stairway modifications, and fare gate improvements. Burns delivered structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design, supporting Sowinski Sullivan Architects, as well as construction management services.
