**** ATTENTION U.S. Business Friends Working with Mexico**** For companies doing business in Mexico, there has been a major shift in the IMMEX (Manufacturing Industry, Maquiladora, and Export Service) Program. IMMEX is a program created for foreign-based manufacturers that allows them to import raw materials and components into Mexico, so that they may be processed into manufactured products for export. The benefit for those utilizing the IMMEX in Mexico program is that the import of raw materials and components enter the country free of general import duties, value-added taxes, and compensatory fees. However, Mexican President, Claudia Sheinbaum, has increased tariffs and restrictions, altering the IMMEX program. These changes went into effect on December 20th, 2024. As of right now, these changes will only impact apparel and textiles, but other business sectors could be facing the same changes within IMMEX in the not-too-distant future. On Monday, December 9th, Beacon hosted a banquet and awarded one player from each participating school a $1,000 college scholarship.
