Today I had the opportunity to attend the Americas Tourism Summit, an event organized by the The Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom FIU. It was an incredible experience to be part of such a meaningful gathering, where leaders from across the Americas came together to discuss the future of tourism in our region.
I was particularly inspired by Former President Iván Duque Márquez, whose insights on "economía naranja" and infrastructure emphasized the potential for growth through culture, creativity, and sustainable development. His vision was a highlight of the summit.
I also deeply appreciated the intervention of Jeanette Núñez, Vice Governor of Florida, whose leadership in shaping Florida’s tourism landscape was both enlightening and motivating.
Additionally, the interventions of Luis Carlos Reyes, Minister of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce of Colombia, and the Tourism Ministers from Paraguay, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala added great value to the conversations, offering diverse perspectives on the role of tourism as a key driver for economic development.
The summit featured a range of insightful panels, including discussions on:
- El turismo como motor de desarrollo de las ciudades.
- Conectividad: Miami, hub de las Américas.
- Inversión público-privada: Retos y desafíos del sector en Latinoamérica.
- Desarrollo futurístico de Nuevo León: Una nueva mirada al futuro.
- Retos y desafíos para el mercado de destinos latinoamericanos.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to engage with such distinguished leaders and industry experts, and I look forward to the continued collaboration and growth of the tourism sector in the Americas.
