  • Dr. Tim just finished "PBIS101: (More than) the Basics of Positive Behavior Interventions and Support." And he's right: You can take the entire course for free. What he didn't mention is that it covers Tier 1, 2, and 3. Here's the link: https://lnkd.in/g42vaim6 #PBIS #MTSS #equity

I'm launching a free, self-paced online course called "PBIS101: (More than) the Basics of Positive Behavior Interventions and Support." It takes about 60-75 minutes to complete, and is perfect for anyone new to #PBIS or newly in charge of PBIS. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gAiKVm23

  • Self-care is often one of the first ways that organizations get to know TGS Educational Consulting. Would you help Dr. Tim select a tagline for the Eight Dimensions of Wellness?

These are the three ways that I've explained the Eight Dimensions of Wellness in my workshops. They all seem to land well, but now I must pick one. Grateful for your help! #selfcare #PBIS #SEL #leadership

  • Our YouTube guests have been on fire lately! Check out our latest interview with Krista Worden!

Principals, I just interviewed an amazing Speech Language Pathologist, Krista Worden of Tucson Unified School District, who spurred some big thinking as we talked about language as the currency of learning. We also uncovered concrete ways to support the work of SLPs so that they can support our students' social, emotional, and academic achievement. • Cut and paste IEPs, 504s, and Behavior Support Plans negate the purpose of individualized support.

Reflections coming from working on Behavior Support Plans for kids: How to make an IEP / 504 a work of aspirational fiction: Write IEP accommodations without explicitly teaching students 1) that they have these accommodations, 2) how to use their accommodations, and 3) what to do if they need an accommodation and it isn't happening. #MTSS #RTI #PBIS Example 1: Extended Time. For extended time to serve any meaningful purpose, students need to know: 1) that there assessments aren't over just because the period is over, 2) they should use the extra time to complete anything that isn't done yet and to check their work for accuracy, and 3) if they ask for extra time, the answer will always be yes. Example 2: Chunking Tasks. Adults may believe we've 'chunked' small enough, but it's the student who really knows. Students deserve to know that 1) their 'big' assignments are now lots of 'little' ones, 2) if something seems too big, they can ask for help breaking it down, and 3) who to talk to if someone says it's already small enough.

  • Busy training day for Dr. Tim! This particular training is called "Creating Inclusive Classrooms for Students with ADHD," and it's available live online and in-person, and in a self-paced online course format.

100 teachers on a zoom for my first session...about to do it again, and then once more. I LOVE hanging out with Tucson Unified School District (TUSD)'s teachers, especially when the goal is inclusive classrooms for students with #ADHD!

  • Incentivizing student behavior through tickets that become currency is both unnecessary and counterproductive. #pbis

If you're wondering why students aren't really interested in your #PBIS store, it's not because of lack of branded merch or fast food gift certificates.

I am working on an equity assessment proposal at the moment and would genuinely love to hear the legit answer from an MS/HS principal: Why would a student eligible to participate in an advanced placement course not automatically be enrolled in the course?
