In this edition of our weekly spotlight newsletter, Makayla Christensen introduces the Gulf Coast CO2 Storage Assessment in Well Data Analytics, which evaluates CO2 sequestration potential by mapping the stratigraphy and petrophysical properties of 15 Tertiary formations. Using data from 6,300 wells, the assessment highlights the Lower Miocene Formation as a key storage candidate and stresses the value of "stacked pay" zones to improve drilling and injection efficiency for long-term sequestration. Read the full article to learn how our Well Data Analytics platform can help optimize CO2 storage projects and enhance long-term sequestration potential. #TGS #IndustryNews #WellDataAnalytics #CCS

Unprecedented 3D Seismic Data Quality in Outboard Santos In the 4th Cycle of the Permanent Concession Offer (OPC), an impressive 192 exploration blocks were awarded across nine basins, marking a record for this tendering modality. Among these, the Santos Basin emerged as a standout with exceptional potential. Surprisingly, perhaps the most prospective of all the Outboard Santos Concession blocks remained unawarded. As the ANP prepares to announce the declaration of interest for the 5th Cycle of the OPC, we see significant potential in Blocks S-M-163 and S-M-1617. The area is characterized by water depths from 2500-2900 m with thick, uninterrupted layered evaporites overlaying pre-salt horsts and grabens combining for multiple four-way closures resembling the prolific outer high at Tupi and surrounding fields. The "last frontier" of the Brazilian Pre-salt play pushes the boundaries of the state's EEZ but displays characteristics consistent with some of the largest discoveries in Santos Basin. While we await the final announcement of the 5th Cycle of the Permanent Concession Offer (OPC) blocks, we are ready to support exploration efforts with our Santos 3D Long Offset dataset. This broadband dataset, enhanced by Full Waveform Inversion (FWI), equips explorationists with unparalleled clarity and confidence to explore the Outboard Santos Basin. Stay tuned as we wait for the official announcement of this bid round. Brazil Expands Pre-Salt Offering to 21 Blocks and Sets Bid Round Date The National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) has approved the inclusion of seven additional pre-salt blocks — Cerussita, Aragonita, Rodocrosita, Malaquita, Opala, Quartzo and Calcedônia—in the Brazilian National Petroleum Agency's (ANP) Permanent Offer Program. These highly prospective blocks, located within the Santos Basin's pre-salt polygon and include prospective targets both in the pre-and post-salt sections. These blocks will be auctioned under the Production Sharing Regime (OPP) in June 2025. The ANP previously announced a bid round featuring 14 blocks in the Campos and Santos basins, to be offered under the Production Sharing Regime. These included the Citrino, Itaimbezinho, Jaspe, Larimar, Onix, and Turmalina areas in Campos, as well as the Agata, Amazonita, Ametista, Esmeralda, Jade, Mogno, Safira Leste and Safira Oeste areas in Santos. TGS provides 3D seismic coverage across the 21 blocks within the pre-salt polygon. These high-quality datasets offer exceptional regional continuity, illuminating pre-salt targets and delivering vital insights to unlock the full potential of these blocks.
