How do you include your children in your work? I'm not talking about child labor. I'm talking about the intentional passing on of knowledge to children. This generational teaching has been changed through the industrial revolution and now has evolved as the digital field has grown and become more flexible for families. How do you teach, pass on your skills, and equip your children for the future? My children learn math, color theory, problem solving, and time management alongside their normal school curriculum. I hope to teach them various foundational computer software as they grow. It is a joy to be a mother and a joy to be an educator for my little ones. I hope you're able to nurture your children as you work alongside them too.

  • What is your favorite part of the design process?

One of my favorite parts of the design process is visiting a site for the first time and doing the initial survey. It's a process of getting to know the building better and in a more detailed way revealing the quirks and features previously hidden in photos. No filter, real, authentic, and sometimes messy. I enjoy working remotely, it is flexible, fits my lifestyle, and I produce more away from the hourly commute, but nothing beats a site visit with my camera, clipboard, drawings, and measuring tape. I get a thrill of finding something new, unusual, and lovely around every corner. I was able to visit this gem in the mountains last week. It felt like opening a dusty old diary filled with cats, frosted windows, coffee grounds, and warmth emanating from the heart of the home in its old coal stove. I'm excited to work on this project and see the final results.
