About us
Find Yourself in Nature. Over one million acres of New Mexico's majestic Southwestern landscapes, transformative activities, groundbreaking conservation projects, and warm hospitality await you. Ted Turner is the founder of CNN and Turner Broadcasting media empire, a philanthropist, self-made billionaire, environmentalist, and conservationist. Turner wishes to share his complete love of nature, wildlife and discovery in order to help all generations develop a keen appreciation for and awareness of what our Earth has to offer and just as importantly, a shared responsibility for the well-being of our environment. After much thoughtful consideration, Turner has established a way in which to achieve this through the launch of Ted Turner Reserves. We invite you to see, travel, and explore his expansive properties, and experience wildlife and landscapes at their most vivid.

Kudos to Vermejo Guides Caroline Killian and Kevin Cole for contributing their expertise in a recent explore.com article about what to do if you encounter a bison on your next outdoor adventure. Special thanks to Ava Roxanne Stritt for consulting our team and featuring Vermejo, a Ted Turner Reserve in the article. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/gydu6V6E 📷: @sean.fitzgerald | Vermejo's herd of Castle Rock bison migrate freely across the 550,000+ acre reserve for much of the year, allowing guests to enjoy the feeling of a private national park.

How can conservation and tourism work hand-in-hand? At Ted Turner Reserves, we exemplify the powerful role that travel can play in conservation by upholding sustainable tourism best practices. Our goal is for guests to develop a deeper appreciation for what our Earth has to offer and, just as importantly, a shared responsibility for the well-being of our environment. In this video, Mike Phillips, Director of the Turner Endangered Species Fund, explains how he and Ted Turner bonded over the power of private lands in protecting imperiled species – including the Castle Rock bison and Rio Grande cutthroat trout at Vermejo, a Ted Turner Reserve and the desert bighorn sheep at our southern New Mexico properties. The success stories continue to grow. And when you stay at Ted Turner Reserves, you contribute to the cause. #worldwildlifeconservationday #tedturnerreserves #saveeverything

Did you catch the CBS Sunday Morning segment featuring the inspiring story of our founder and trailblazer, Ted Turner? You'll hear from individuals working tirelessly to keep Mr. Turner's vision alive, including Ted Turner Reserves President, Jade McBride: "Everybody has horseback riding and hiking... I think what really makes this place special is that we get to do them in this restored ecosystem that feels a lot like a private national park." Watch here: https://lnkd.in/eutkP6BH

Join us in celebrating the 86th birthday of our founder, the one and only Ted Turner! With each passing year, Ted continues to inspire and challenge us to do our part to share the transformative power of nature and Save Everything. Guests of Ted Turner Reserves have unfettered access to 1.1 million acres of restored New Mexico land because of Ted's foresight, generosity, and genuine care for our Earth. As Ted says, "When we connect with nature, we heal ourselves. When we protect nature, we heal the planet."

"The Power is Yours!" That was the message for 16 northern New Mexico youth who participated in the Captain Planet - Planeteer Alliance Youth Bootcamp in late October at Vermejo. It was a great opportunity for the youth to learn how they might make change in their communities related to climate and the environment, and for the Captain Planet folks to learn which climate and environmental topics are of concern to western rural communities. Some of the topics were regenerative agriculture, wind energy, local food production, and deforestation due to wildfires. After a little classroom time, the group enjoyed lunch on the veranda, lawn games, and casting lessons.
