Thank you for partnering with us, The Dennis Project, Inc.! Donate today to help us continue providing inclusive and culturally-relevant STEM curriculum to girls of color - bit.ly/TBGGiving. #GivingTuesday #STEMEducation #DiversityInStem
The Dennis Project, Inc. had a time today at Lotus Elite Academic Preparatory School 🩺🧬🤖 The girls learned about a Black female inventor, Alana Andrews, who was diagnosed pre-diabetic at age 8. She played sports, yet couldn't drink the sports drinks. So, she created her own company and sports drink called SWEY, designed for young athletes with diabetes. Diabetes is a difficult condition to explain, especially to kids. But, my sister Coach Ebony Zamora of Healthyebonylife put the icing on the cake! As a person living with diabetes she explained her journey and how she manages it. Also, as a Black female entrepreneur, the girls learned how Ebony helps others with diabetes through her health coaching business for African Americans ❤️ Then, our jr. chemical engineers created their own sports drink that had no or low sugar and carbohydrates. Making it safe to drink for persons with diabetes. #LETSGO 🧬 Girls Rep in STEM: Ignite Youth Inventors series is made possible by Techbridge Girls #STEMulatingMinds #TDP #LEAPS #TBG #PartnersofChange

Sarah’s story begins like so many girls across this country. Growing up in a low-income community, her boundless curiosity for science met with limited resources and role models. Everything changed when she became a Techbridge Girl. This year, we impacted 25,000 girls across the country like Sarah by training and equipping their educators with the tools to create inclusive spaces where these youth can become critical STEM thinkers, develop and grow a practice mindset with the engineering design process, and enjoy STEM. Join us in our mission to build equitable STEM education at bit.ly/TBGGiving.
