Check out this incredible poster our cultural resources team recently created: a reference typology of Florida projectile points! Projectile points like these were used as far back as 13,500 years ago by the hunter-gatherers of the Paleoindian period. The size and shape of projectile points varied depending on the era they were created and the intended use. Points were attached to spears or arrows for hunting mammoth, deer, or smaller game and would be made of stone such as quartz, quartzite, chert, or petrified wood. Here, UES has created 55 original works of art depicting the majority of points types found in Florida.
