Spending time in Tahoe Truckee is about showing up for one another. There is a spirit here that connects all who love it. Kristina Kind, TTCF Program Director, recently summed this spirit up in Moonshine Ink. "It’s in how people show up for each other, whether during tough times, in bad storms, or for neighbors in need. It’s in trusted neighbors who help guide us through the challenging moments. I’ve seen board members do the work, showing up to community equity and belonging training, watched youth use their voices to shape the future for themselves and their families, and witnessed our elected officials wrestle with how to create lasting change for generations to come. Here in Tahoe/Truckee, we embody this spirit with the Give Back Tahoe Giving Season. Position: Engagement and Communications Manager The goal of TTCF’s Engagement team is to cultivate meaningful and authentic relationships between stakeholders and the Foundation. We do this by identifying mission alignment, creating and collaborating on engaging experiences, and developing systems to track and adapt our strategies. This position will directly support the Director of Engagement and Communications and CEO to ensure the highest level of support for all engagement and fundraising efforts. While rooted and accountable to an annual strategy, the Engagement team is highly entrepreneurial, innovative, and willing to take risks and learn quickly. Northstar Resort California shares these sentiments, and the promise they've made to conserve our natural environment, support our community and their employees, and make outdoor recreation more accessible and inclusive is EPIC. Northstar and Vail Resorts are longtime partners of Tahoe truckee Community Foundation and we are so proud of what we've accomplished together. In the last 10 years, Tahoe50 Giving Club has attracted MILLIONS of dollars to North Tahoe-Truckee. This program has raised critical funding for 80+ nonprofits through the #GiveBackTahoeGivingSeason, supported local scholarships, and powered the work we do here at Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation in housing, mental health, and forest and climate solutions. Ten years ago, we launched Tahoe50 Giving Club to blend high-impact philanthropy and exclusive all-season experiences with 12 resort, adventure, and luxury partners. Giving Club donors receive two fully-transferrable passes to all of our local ski resorts, plus additional perks with partners like Tahoe Mountain Club, Alpenglow Expeditions, and Tahoe XC. These businesses are at the center of our mountain community - driving the economy, providing jobs, and giving back. Since 2014, they have come together to offer Tahoe50 donors distinctive mountain experiences and donate 100% of the proceeds to support Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation's initiatives. Our partners are an integral part of local and regional housing projects and are deeply committed to our Forests Futures campaign as well. Since 2014, Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation has sponsored the Give Back Tahoe Giving Season free of charge to North Tahoe-Truckee nonprofits. Together, we've raised nearly *$4 million* with thousands of donors. When #GivingTuesday, the International Day of Giving, took off across the globe, it was clear to us that we needed more than a single day. Why? Because even though people have second homes here, proudly display a sticker of Lake Tahoe on their cars in San Francisco, LA, or Sacramento, and even travel from around the world to soak up our community and natural environment... they just don't include us in their charitable giving. This is natural. When we are on vacation, we don't see or think about the challenges that a place faces or the herculean effort it takes to keep magical areas so special. And it does take a herculean effort. So we give ourselves all of December to capture the attention of the visitors, part-time homeowners, vacation renters, and overall-Tahoe-Truckee-lovers and encourage them to #GiveBackTahoe as much as they get. Nonprofits sign up to celebrate #collectivegiving with their own pages on our free platform, partake in educational resources and webinars, and build their campaigns and messaging with a lot of support. A group of nearly 60 attendees joined Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation's Lunch & Learn titled “Unlocking Potential: Recent ADU Research and Its Impact on Policy and Development." We are lucky to have two experts who have committed time and intellectual capital to understand how accessory dwelling units (ADUs) could impact Tahoe Truckee's housing and cost of living. Erin Casey and Thomas J. Powell, LP.D shared their research, including barriers, solutions, and local incentives and policies. As we move into the second and third phases of our Forest Futures Impact Strategy, we are pleased to share the news that TTCF has granted $1 million to Sierra Institute for Community and Environment for it's Mosaic Timber Mill. This catalytic investment seeks to address several of the Mountain West's greatest challenges: forest health and wildfires, a workforce and achievable housing crisis, and developing regenerative rural economies. This is the largest grant that Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation has made in our 25+ years.
