In the research and innovation bill, presented last week, the Swedish Government announced one of the largest-ever investments in research and innovation, totaling SEK 6.5 billion in additional funding. The funding will support excellent research, boost funding for higher education institutions, enhance research infrastructure, and advance groundbreaking technologies. 🌎 International cooperation and partnerships are central to the bill and considered key to advancing the frontiers of science. Sweden 🇸🇪 and the United States 🇺🇸 have a strong scientific partnership across several important fields, including basic energy science, cancer research, quantum technologies, and 6G development. Stegra's plant in Boden will be the largest green hydrogen production plant in Europe & Europe's first new steel mill in 50 years. By swapping coal for green hydrogen, they refine iron ore into green iron, a game-changing innovation that makes it possible to produce near-zero emission steel, setting a new industry standard.
