It's alive 🧟♂️. I finally automated my Hubspot pipeline funnel COHORT reporting that all of my past clients declined because it was too much to maintain. Why bother? Conversion rates without a cohort analysis can ONLY be trusted after ALL leads have converted and an entire sales cycle has passed. ⏱️ No Head of Sales should take the luxury of waiting that long with data-backed decisions. I updated this sheet manually for most of my clients, which took me 3-4 hours a month. To me it was highly impactful, as I could tweak GTM processes nearly in real-time and iterate towards an efficient process in a fraction of the time. Since 2017 I have been trying to automate this process, first with a friendly Romanian Developer under the domain name Kohord, then with an Argentinian Marketing Dashboarding startup and I even thought about acquiring a discontinued mirco-saas solution that was focussed on a similar use-case. Now, I was able to build this sheet in one day and it works 🥹. Tech. details: I exported selected Hubspot data (Data entered in stages) from Hubspot to Google Sheets with SuperJoin and calculated the 'monthly cohort'ed conversion rates' per rep with annoyingly long formulas. SuperJoin refreshes the data automatically (or you can do it manually with one click in their free tier). 🤩 Here are a few things that a cohort view of your funnel allows you to do: a) See if your new hire is performing as expected Details: Compare a new hire's First-month conversions with the First-month conversions of previous hires and see he she/he is performing as expected. Make necessary decisions about your new hires quickly and save valuable time & money. b) See if your expensive sales training has an effect Details: If you're training to improve discovery skills, the training should have an immediate effect on i.e. the Discovery to Demo conversion rate, which are visible in monthly cohorts. Without cohorts, training effects are watered down in aggregate conversion rates and it's hard to hold trainers accountable. c) See if process changes are working Details: Have you added a new approval flow in your pipeline or have you improved the UX of your free trial?
