This week, I had the opportunity to meet some of the recipients of the 2024 NCSEA 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 at the national summit in Las Vegas. These scholarships were established to support historically underrepresented students pursuing careers in structural engineering. Two days ago, 𝗡𝗖𝗦𝗘𝗔 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 Tricia Ruby an incredible friend who I deeply admire and respect (as do many others in our profession!) invited donor group representatives to the stage for recognition. I was pleased and honored to be one among a group of 25 to be part of the review committee this year. What a unique opportunity for a presentation: This topic was about the latest building snow load requirements (ASCE 7-22) in the historically snowiest metro in the country (Syracuse, NY) by the the most influential person of snow load design for buildings (Dr. Michael O’Rourke). Thanks to my colleagues at SEAoNY - Upstate Chapter that made this presentation and others at the CNY Engineering Expo possible!
