Addressing Poverty and Homelessness in LA through Housing, Outreach, Mental Health Services, and Education/Job Skills.

About us

Our mission is to provide working poor families as well as homeless men, women, and children of all ages with the inner resources and tools to become productive, stable and self- supporting members of the community. St. Joseph Center has been meeting the needs of low-income and homeless individuals and families since 1976. Today, our programs reach more than 10,000 people annually across Los Angeles County. The Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves those in need without regard for religious affiliation or lack thereof. Comprehensive case management, mental health, and integrated social service programs are carried out at multiple sites in Los Angeles County, with major service centers located on the Westside and in South LA. St. Joseph Center provides clients with concentrated and coordinated access to a range of services according to the nature of their needs. Our current efforts cover: •Outreach & Engagement: Street-based multidisciplinary teams, walk-in centers, and food assistance service help homeless and low-income men, women, and children access housing and other resources that lead to self-sufficiency. •Housing: Permanent Supportive Housing and Rapid Re-Housing services assist homeless families and individuals to obtain and maintain housing stability. •Mental Health: Therapy and other forms of support help clients impacted by mental health issues lead fuller, more independent lives. •Education & Vocational Training: Job programs and educational efforts equip adults and children with the knowledge and tools to make progress in the workplace and in life.

  • Weeks after our Winter Wonderland event, we’re still feeling the joy brought by Jimmy Kimmel, Molly McNearney, and the Jimmy Kimmel Live team! Seeing Guillermo and Jimmy decorate the tree outside of Wendy's trailer adds a special touch as she moves into permanent housing just in time for Christmas. The tree symbolizes the joy and community impact of this season. As Jimmy said, “It’s very Charlie Brown-esque. But I think when it’s dark, it’ll look really good.” Wishing everyone a happy holiday season! 🎄❤️

  • Meet Victoria, a dedicated grandmother of four and a true inspiration! Thanks to St. Joseph Center and our generous donors, she received a turkey and all the sides this holiday season. With help from our Food Pantry, she can provide for her family and ease some of her financial burdens. Your support makes a real difference in families like Victoria’s! • St. Joseph Center extends a heartfelt thank you to our incredible supporters, Jimmy Kimmel, SJC Board Member Molly McNearney, and everyone at Jimmy Kimmel Live! Their generous donations and hands-on volunteering to make a long-term impact at St. Joseph Center’s Winter Wonderland for families were genuinely inspiring. We hosted an unforgettable day for our SOLA interim family housing community, fulfilling a wishlist for over 100 SOLA families/other sites and investing in repairs and supplies. We unveiled a new Jimmy Way and Molly Ave. street sign, a beautiful library filled with books featuring Jimmy’s book. We dedicated a “Kimmel Corner” playground in honor of the Kimmel family. We are humbly grateful for the support of our mission!
