About us

The St. Louis Area Foodbank is the bi-state region’s largest non-profit 501(c)(3) food distribution center dedicated to feeding those in need. Through our network of more than 500 partner agencies, we distributed over 42 million pounds of food in 2016. Thanks to the generous support from our donors and volunteers, we provide food assistance to more than 57,000 individuals each week in 26 counties in Eastern Missouri and Southwestern Illinois. The St. Louis Area Foodbank is a proud member of both the United Way and Feeding America – a nationwide network of over 200 food banks.

  • When organizations who care about community work together, great things happen. An enormous thanks to Bayer Fund for this $100,000 grant, which we’ll use toward expanding and providing ongoing support to our school market program. School markets are mini grocery stores established inside of schools across the bi-state region. Students and families shop for free to ensure they have access to nutritious fresh produce and shelf stable foods. Healthy community building IS possible when we choose to support each other like this. https://lnkd.in/gz9mrEZ8

  • Everywhere you look there are signs of the holidays – lights and decorations aglow that tell us it is truly a magical time of year. A time for dreaming, a time for love, a time for gathering with family and friends, and a time to celebrate. As we look forward to this time of year, it is also important to recognize and acknowledge that – whether it is facing the holidays for the first time without a loved one, navigating a job loss or maybe a medical diagnosis – the holidays can also be a time of fear, uncertainty, and conflicting emotions. In this month’s blog, St. Louis Area Foodbank President & CEO Meredith Knopp discusses how we can all make a difference during the upcoming season. Read the full blog at https://lnkd.in/dDj4nwhB.
