Thursday I was on a Delta flight from Boston to Paris. 🇫🇷 We spend Christmas in Paris, it’s our gift to each other. We love it here! The travel, the food, shopping, churches, art, the people, and the decorations. The lights on the Eiffel Tower make me so happy! Being in France celebrating the birth of Christ is special to us. This year something beautiful happened before we even arrived. We were lucky enough to to be seated in 💙#DeltaOne Before takeoff the flight attendant spilled and entire tray of champagne and orange juices right in this gentleman’s lap. There must have been 10 glasses. She was mortified. Grabbing towels and support from others attendants. The passenger told her from the moment it happened “it’s ok, I have other items to wear, it’s not a big deal, I hope your not upset”. He never raised his voice, he didn’t jump out of his seat and ask for her name, he was not affected at all by this accident. The flight attendant was stunned. She asks him latter, how were you able to not get mad at me? He looked at her right in her eyes and said “I’m headed home to bury my father, he died two days ago and this was the greatest thing that could have happened to me. I think my dad just gave me my first test- “be kind to everyone, all the time”. He turned to her and asked, “how’d I do”, she had tears in her eyes and said perfect. He went on to tell her the many test he would be giving his son after his battle with cancer and once he got through all the test he’d find his wife who he’ll marry. The next one is about money and he was anxious about this one because this test was coming at the will. The flight attendant looked at him and said, “your dad knew what he was doing, he gave you a hard one first in front of all these strangers, you got this next one. Plus, if it goes bad I’ll go thrown drinks on em all for ya”. Maybe that wife is closer than he knows… That was beautiful to watch. Our 🎄 in Paris has added a new tradition- be as kind to as many people as possible- smile 😊 and say Merry Christmas, sing carols at their church, pray 🙏🏻with them, light a candle and pray for all of us. And if things don't go your way just let us know and I can just spill drinks on everyone. Well done Delta Air Lines! Great crew, team work, and a beautiful life lesson. Thanksgiving is an opportunity to reflect on all the blessings of the previous year. Gratitude is a key part of my life and vital to focus on joy. Individuals in recover focus on gratitude daily. Thanksgiving is simply a chance to appreciate the good things in life, the blessings that God has bestowed upon us, like family, friends, good health, the ability to be of service to others, a job we love, a home to live in and food to eat, warm water, community, and the incredible gifts we experience every day. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. 🍁 I remember as a very young child I loved our grandparents coming over and helping my Mom cook and get ready for our entire family to be together. I still love it! Of course I love the food but more importantly, I love the stories we tell, the blessing we have before the meal, the laughter, and the games we play until well after midnight every year. This year I am making my famous sweet potato souffle with buttered roasted pecan, macaroni and cheese, and bourbon cream bread pudding. What are some of your family traditions?
