Consent to agenda - Having an agreement on the agenda matters for good meeting flow! In sociocracy, even the meeting agenda requires consent before the meeting begins. • Someome typically prepares and thinks through the agenda. • The proposed agenda is then presented to all participants at the start of the meeting. • The group uses a brief consent process (just questions + consent) to agree on the final agenda. • Any circle members can object, for example because of necessary additions, deletions, or changes to the agenda. This practice ensures that the meeting addresses what's most important to the group and everyone is aligned on the meeting's purpose and flow. When I first embarked on my teaching career, I was driven by a desire to change the world, and I truly believed I could. However, years of working within oppressive power structures tried to convince me that someone as ordinary and quiet as Elandriel couldn't make a difference. Despite my efforts to keep my passion alive, I became somewhat disillusioned. Then, I discovered Sociocracy For All's Academy Level 1, which reignited my spirit like a blowtorch. Sociocracy: ADMIN ADMIN is a crucial part of sociocratic meeting structure: (Note that "ADMIN" is an acronym to memorize it more easily) A = attendance D = duration M = minutes I = information N = next meeting It's typically addressed at the beginning of the meeting after the opening round. This ensures everyone is clear on • who's present - and we also have a culture of noticing who is absent • how long the meeting will last - and avoid people just dropping off • who's taking notes and whether they are correct - so our work will be transparent to everyone else in the organization • what else is going on - so we can inform each other on other updates, related to life or our organizations and • when the next meeting is scheduled - so we don't run into scheduling issues. I’m excited to share that I’ve officially formalized my practice of sociocracy with the Sociocracy Facilitator Certification! 🎉 I see a strong connection between individual and organizational #coaching and the principles of #sociocracy. Adopting sociocracy requires deep self-reflection on who we are, where we want to go, and how we get there. It’s about recognizing the strengths and contributions of each team member. At the same time, working in a sociocratic environment reinforces these aspects, helping drive personal growth. I’m looking forward to integrating sociocratic techniques into my coaching practice and believe they will complement my skills beautifully.
