About us
The American Red Cross Southern California Region serves San Diego, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Imperial Counties. The Southern California Region exists to provide compassionate care to those in need. Our generous donors, volunteers and employees are part of a nationwide network committed to preventing and relieving suffering here at home, across the country and around the world. The Red Cross empowers ordinary people to perform extraordinary acts in emergency situations. We train. We mobilize. We connect donors and volunteers to those in urgent need of a helping hand. Whether it’s a wildfire or a home fire, a call for blood, or a call from a service member or military family in need, the Red Cross is there. We provide food and shelter in emergencies, assist members of our armed forces, veterans and their families, teach lifesaving skills to ensure our communities are prepared to respond to emergencies, and so much more. All Red Cross assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the public.

Our Service to the Armed Forces team, in partnership with San Diego Crisis Response Canines, recently conducted a briefing at Camp Pendleton for the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Chaplain Corps. The session focused on their Animal Visitation Program, highlighting the therapeutic benefits of incorporating trained canines into military support and resiliency efforts. 🐾 Demonstrations showcased the canines’ calm and friendly demeanor, while chaplains learned how to incorporate these visits into their pastoral care and crisis response practices. This collaborative initiative seeks to deepen resources for chaplains in supporting the well-being of service members and reinforces the important role of animal-assisted interventions in fostering recovery and resilience within military communities. 👏
