🎄 Allison and Allie C. had a wonderful day in Tularosa at the Village Christmas Bazaar! 🎅✨ They connected with residents as part of the Village of Tularosa Comprehensive Plan, gathering input on what makes Tularosa special and dreams for its future. They also had great conversations with local businesses about their experiences and insights and checked in with Village staff to hear their perspectives. 🌄 Today's plant spotlight comes from Sites landscape designer Jonathon Cunningham's hike in the Sandias: Fendlera rupicola, also known as Cliff Fenderbush or False Mockorange. 🌼 This native shrub is a high-desert gem, flowering in midsummer and filling the air with its incredible orange-vanilla scent. Perfect for xeriscapes, it thrives in the rocky, well-drained soils of canyon environments and is a low water-use wonder. 🌲 This week, Wendi (Sites Landscape Architect in Bend, OR) represented Sites Southwest at the 2024 Oregon Outdoor Recreation Summit in beautiful Sunriver, Oregon! 🌟 This incredible event brought together leaders and innovators in outdoor recreation to tackle challenges, share solutions, and explore opportunities for connecting people of all backgrounds to the outdoors. From climate resilience and health equity to trail networks and stewardship, the Summit provided a space to learn and network with the Pacific Northwest’s outdoor community. 🌿 We’re excited to bring back insights and ideas to support our work in designing and enhancing outdoor spaces! 🌟 Last night, Norma and Rudy joined the City of Las Cruces and Wilson & Company for the first public meeting on the Villa Mora Dam Park Design project! 🌳 Held at City Hall, this gathering brought together Parks & Rec, community members, and project partners to hear your thoughts and ideas. This meeting focused on exploring opportunities for: ✅ Preserving existing habitat ✅ Enhancing drainage and erosion control ✅ Adding active & passive recreation spaces ✅ Expanding accessibility, trails, and wayfinding ✅ Introducing picnic areas, shade structures, and safety lighting Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback—we’re excited to shape this park together!
