𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗮, 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗛𝗣𝗘 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻! Last week, I attended SHPE’s 50th National Convention in Anaheim, California. I connected with professionals and peers while gaining key insights from career-focused workshops. From exploring how adaptability drives innovation in tech to discovering pathways for launching a successful career in aerospace engineering, the learning opportunities were endless.🚀 The convention’s highlight was the career fair, where I displayed my achievements and networked with numerous recruiters from leading companies. A special shoutout to our chapter, SHPE UT-Arlington for earning the Silver Chapter Award and to James Narey, PMP for receiving the STAR Jaime Oaxaca Award! James’s dedication to advancing STEM opportunities for underrepresented communities is truly admirable, and I’m incredibly grateful for his mentorship and guidance. 🎉 Being part of SHPE has impacted my journey, helping me build connections with fellow Hispanic STEM students, promote diversity, and improve essential professional skills towards future workforce readiness. The energy and resilience of everyone at the convention made the experience not only rewarding, but unforgettable. Thrilled to be back and motivated for what’s to come! 😊 #SHPEtina #region5

This past week, I had the opportunity to attend the SHPE 2024 National Convention in Anaheim, California, celebrating its 50th anniversary! I am eternally grateful to SHPE UT-Arlington for providing me with all the necessary tools to succeed at the convention. Thank you to all the recruiters, staff, students, and volunteers for making this event spectacular! The workshops, conversations while waiting in line with students and professionals, and connecting with companies were some of my most favorite moments that I will cherish forever. I made so many meaningful connections, networked, interviewed, and am looking forward to a bright future. 🌟

Incoming SWE @ Microsoft | Prev @ Adobe, AWS, JPMC | CS @ UTA

Feels crazy to share, but i'm excited to announce that in May I will be joining Microsoft as a Software Engineer under the Azure Core Org! (REMOTE SO I GET TO GO BACK HOME TO TEXAS AND STAY THERE) This journey has not been an easy one (or a short one for that matter) and I would have never made it this far without my friends, families and communities that have supported me. Shoutout to ColorStack, ColorStack UTA, SHPE UT-Arlington, and Silly Gang for all the support these last few years. 3 years ago when I started this degree in CS after my pivot from my career in Music I would have never guessed that a kid from a background like me would ever get this or any of the other opportunities that I have been blessed to experience. I hope to continue to put on for my communities and continue to help others with the same help that I was given or figured out myself. This one's for you too Angel.

Hola SHPE Familia and LinkedIn Familia, I had the privilege of attending the SHPE National Convention in Anaheim, California, last week. Experiencing the range of companies and seeing everything they have to offer was truly one of a kind opportunity. I'm grateful to my SHPE buddies - John Conlin, Jorge Arturo Levario - Delagarza Jr., corey arnold, Diego Ibarra, Emilio Peña, Jackson Hoekstra, Jason Cabrejos, Oscar Ventura, Brandon Ayala - and the SHPE UT-Arlington chapter for joining me in this experience and landing interviews left and right. One more for the books!

Hola SHPE Familia!! This past month all our officers had the opportunity to participate in the 2024 SHPE NILA CCLP event. Our president and vice president also participated in the 2024 SHPE NILA Presidents Summit this past weekend 😎 . During CCLP our officers learned a lot including: -Maximizing Member Engagement  -Mastering Member Retention 👩🎓 -Workings of Chapter Management Tool -Creating a sustainable and effective budget 💸 During the Presidents Summit, our President and Vice President had some key takeaways: “Being able to learn how to retain members after the national convention, from what I have seen in the past is one of our weaknesses, and being able to hear that from other chapters on what they do is something I am looking forward to doing”- Pres. Brendon Bolanos De Moraes ✈ “Recognized that our chapter is part of a much larger network, with numerous opportunities, resources, and tools provided by SHPE National to improve our activities and achieve our goals. Additionally, we developed new connections with fellow chapter leaders and professionals, fostering idea exchange and collaborative initiatives.”- Vice Pres. Gabriela Sanchez 🤝 Not only were these events informative but also encouraging with speakers from different Hispanic leaders like : Iris Alvarado Santiago who spoke about Hispanics in the workforce when saying “You belong here, you are worth it, you are smart” during the CCLP ❤️ .    SHPE CEO Suzanna Valdez stated “Take pride in your leadership position, no matter what position you are in you earned it, continue to cherish it and know you belong where you are at” and “ If you can do it while your young, do it now. Don’t regret until your older, as you might regret not having done it sooner” during the Presidents Summit 👏 Overall, we are very thankful to have been given this opportunity to grow as leaders, and a special thanks to SHPE National for making this possible!! ✨
