#SheldonGrossLoves Macculloch Hall, in Morristown, NJ. Built in 1810 by London immigrants George and Louise Macculloch, the Federal-style mansion was expanded in 1812 and again in 1819, more than tripling its original size. Since 1949, the property has served as a historical museum, housing a large collection of works by nineteenth-century artist Thomas Nash.

#SheldonGrossLoves the Gravensteen, a medieval castle in Ghent, Belgium. While the current structure – complete with its impressive moat – dates to about 1180, the site was fortified as early as the tenth century. When the Gravensteen no longer was needed for military purposes, it served in turns as a prison, mint, factory, and now a museum and tourist attraction.

#SheldonGrossLoves Angola’s Palácio de Ferro, the “Iron Palace.” Purportedly designed and built (records no longer exist; it’s a bit of a mystery) by Gustave Eiffel – creator of the Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty – it was completed during the 1890s. The structure is currently being renovated, while the Angolan government considers how it will be used in the future.
