Yesterday was the Sheedx Africa Summit and oh wow it was a 10/10 X 100. Amazing event for women in tech hosted by the amazing founder of Sheedx Africa Enoabasi Emah I shared on community support and mentorship as essential drivers in nurturing talent and sustaining interest in technology fields, especially for underrepresented groups like women, children, Mentorship and community support, are not just “nice-to-have” elements; they are critical tools for building a pipeline of skilled, confident, and motivated women, children, and teens in technology. The goal isn’t just to get more people into tech but to ensure they thrive and lead within it. How Many Times Will You Tell Us You're Starting Again? That's what I thought would be running through the minds of people if I came back here again after a three days hiatus but hear me out! Monday 16th of September marked the beginning of the Sheedx Africa Summit An annual showcase for women in tech in Africa hosted every year by Sheedx Africa and I was a volunteer! For the past three months we've been planning, putting out content for Sheedx Africa Summit and doing so much work behind the scenes to make sure it was a success! As the social media manager, I learnt a lot! I was forced to confront some work ethics I had that I didn't like and didn't serve me well, and had to deal with the urge to run away from everything when i feel overwhelmed. So yes, I had to grow, I had to learn and I'm so grateful for the opportunity I had to do so in that capacity! I'm so grateful to our project manager Uboho Ekott for allowing me volunteer, up until the very last day, even now post event she's been on it! Not just after the success of the event she's managing but our own personal career growth as well! The community managers Covenant Cosmas and Julius Inam working with her around the clock to ensure everything went smoothly. The Convener herself, the person without which there would be no room for volunteering or change making Enoabasi Emah! Her passion and dedication for women surprised me! Maybe they're not known enough but I've never seen a woman who wants so much to inspire women to excel and puts in her own resources to make it work! Sheedx Africa Summit was a blast!
