Director of Facilities Shaker Pointe at Carondelet is an award-winning independent living community committed to providing seniors with residential experience to inspire intellectual, physical, social and spiritual growth within a community of neighbors and friends. Shaker Pointe is located on 30 acres of beautifully landscaped outdoor spaces and scenic walking trails, and offers a retirement lifestyle with purpose. Shaker Pointe is seeking Director of Facilities to ensure the delivery of quality building maintenance services at Shaker Pointe and manage daily maintenance operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Ensures consistent standard and evaluation of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting, as well as waste and snow removal services. · Directs and oversees Maintenance staff and manages staff performance. · Work closely with Director of Sales on apartment renovations to ensure timely completion. · Requisitions materials, tools, and equipment required to complete projects. · Oversees projects completed by independent contractors. · Collaborates with other members of the leadership team, participates in team and staff meetings. · Develops the department’s annual budget and monitors expenses. Required Skills: · Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills. · Strong knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical, roofing, HVAC, appliances, door control, security and communications. · Excellent interpersonal and communications skills to work with diverse population of staff and residents. · Ability to exhibit respect, compassion, and sensitivity toward seniors’ needs. · Time management skills and ability to remain calm under pressure and function effectively in high-stress situations. · Attention to detail and commitment to service excellence. · Proficiency in using work order systems, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and various types of Internet browsers. Qualifications: · 5-7 years of supervisory experience in construction or related fields required; experience in a hospitality/senior living setting preferred. · Trades certification in electrical, HVAC, plumbing and/or IT is preferred. · Prior experience with swimming pool maintenance is a plus. Job offer is contingent upon successfully passing pre-employment background investigation. Annual compensation: Starting at $80,000; will be commensurate with experience level. Schedule: 7:30am to 3:30pm, 40 hours per week. Last month's Casino Night was so much fun! Magical Memories Entertainment's experienced dealers made sure Blackjack, Roulette, and Plinko were busy all night. We also had several "self-play" games available, including Left-Center-Right, Poker, and Craps! At the end of the night, residents were able to cash in their "funny money" for prizes, with Bev McGuinness, Betty Voelk, and Barbara Mazur as our big winners!

Today, residents gathered to hear Dr. Sabir Michael, former Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at the University of Karachi, speak about the situation affecting him and his family here in the Capital District. Sabir was a tireless advocate for human rights in Pakistan. He received many awards for his work and spoke and studied at the UN, in London, Geneva and Malaysia. In 2023 the situation in Pakistan was deteriorating and the prejudice against Christians was growing worse. He began to fear for his safety and the safety of his family. This led him to leave Pakistan and come to the US early in 2024. He has applied for asylum, and his case was accepted. Thank you to Sabir for your knowledge, bravery, and your time today!
