  • 🧠 In case you missed it: The Autonomous SOC has its believers and non believers. Few topics have been as polarizing. But like everything in cybersecurity, it’s not the half-sentence definitions that count but rather the real-world application. The truth is that regardless of which camp you’re in, we as a security community have much more in common with each other regarding the vision of AI and automation—and where we are on the journey—than the pundits and hyperbolic posturing would have you believe. Let's move beyond the debate and keep building a more secure, efficient future. To learn more, read our blog post: https://s1.ai/Auto-SOC

  • 🗞️ Our weekly cybersecurity news roundup 👉The Good: The operator behind the malware-as-a-service (MaaS), Raccoon Stealer, is sentenced to five years in prison. The Bad: A suspected South Asian threat actor known as ‘Bitter’ targeted a Turkish defense sector organization. 📺 Unlike other threat actors that operate in the shadows, ransomware gangs are leveraging public visibility to build trust and increase their chances of payouts. "On the one hand, they need to convince victims that they are professional or at least capable enough of providing a decrypter after you've paid your 100K or 200K or millions." says Max Smeets at #LABScon24. "And secondly, that they're also reliable enough that they follow up on the promises to not actually put your data online after you've paid them or that they delete the data from a server or any other type of promises that they've made.” 👉 Watch the full video: https://s1.ai/LC24-MS

☁️ 🤖 "[AI] is not fast-fashion—it’s here to stay … It’s actually growing," says SentinelOne’s Susanna D. in conversation with Laura Roantree. "Most of our conversations were beyond the next year, beyond the next two years, really, about innovation and taking it to the next level, making things more automated and actually working together." 📺 Ransomware is doing more to change the security landscape than the last 20 years of Secure Development Lifecycle, DevSecOps, Zero Days, Breaches, or any corporate memo. Pair this with predatory pricing models from software vendors that sell security features as add-on products in premium or enterprise tier licenses, and you’ve got a perfect storm that hits small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) the hardest. "If you're an #SMB, the breach isn't what scares you—it's the ransomware shutting off your ability to deliver product and deliver services and generate revenue. And so now all of a sudden, small and medium companies are real interested in how do I prevent ransomware. How do I protect myself against ransomware," says 👑 Kymberlee Price at #LABScon24. "It's all about how do we help you recover from the inevitable breach because you don't have the security you need—and you're not going to anytime soon."
