Helping families with the transition into senior care communities.
About us
I’m Cindy Maxson, Senior Transition Specialist with Mom’s House®. I network with the senior living industry to help families with the transition into senior care communities. I help the adult children by buying a “mom’s house” in its current condition along with all unwanted items, so they can free up financial resources and start the process as quickly as possible. In many situations the family helping their loved one is in crisis, overwhelmed with her new care needs. I can remove the added burden of having to coordinate with siblings and contractors to clean out, update and repair a house. I work with a support team of people and resources to offer families information, resources and options. - senior living administrators, placement agents, social workers, elder care attorneys, CPA’s, financial estate planners, title companies, contractors, clean out and estate sale companies and more. As a baby boomer myself, I have dedicated my time and business to working with the senior community to contribute value, education and guidance.

High-quality social connections are essential to our mental and physical health and our well-being. Social isolation and loneliness are important, yet neglected, social determinants for people of all ages – including older people. Social isolation and loneliness are widespread, with an estimated 1 in 4 older people experiencing social isolation and between 5 and 15 per cent of adolescents experiencing loneliness. A large body of research shows that social isolation and loneliness have a serious impact on physical and mental health, quality of life, and longevity. The effect of social isolation and loneliness on mortality is comparable to that of other well-established risk factors such as smoking, obesity, and physical inactivity. https://lnkd.in/g4fpDyt

The challenge becomes finding the right “new home,” especially if your elderly parent or spouse is experiencing memory problems. “It’s vital to really look at the support needs and challenges the person you’re supporting is facing at this point and to try to look honestly at what’s working and what’s not,” says Teepa Snow, an occupational therapist, dementia care advocate and owner of Positive Approach to Care in Efland, North Carolina. Learn about two common senior living types—assisted living and memory care—and how to determine the best care for your elderly parent or spouse. https://lnkd.in/exKvZ_Dw
