It's the season of giving, and University of Tennessee Basketball guard Jahmai Mashack is doing just that — giving and guarding meal time this holiday season. Backed by the support of VolNation, he gives his ALL for East Tennessee, both on and off the court. The recent support of VolNation on Jahmai's holiday Virtual Food Drive resulted in a truckload filled with 21,335 pounds of food. In just over an hour, 1,194 people from 398 households were served — with each neighbor given a choice between a ham or a turkey. Special thanks to Jahmai's mom, Meika, for creating overflowing compassion within her family. As a fourth generation family-owned business, our friends at Dietz and Watson understand the importance of family. This holiday season, they've teamed up with Food City / KVAT Foods Inc. to donate 4 pallets of high-protein goods, which started being distributed to families experiencing food insecurity within 24 hours of delivery. We are so grateful for this ongoing partnership with Dietz & Watson and Food City that has been saving holiday meal time for East Tennessee families for more than 8 years. Plus, their added financial support brings the total impact of their gift to 67,000 meals. Thank you!

Since the beginning of our fiscal year on July 1st, 2024, our Mobile Pantry program has distributed over a MILLION mobile meals, with the millionth being served right at the end of November. We are so thankful for support from our community, and for the work of our Mobile Pantry team, that has allowed this program to reach a fiscal year milestone within the span of only 5 months — less than halfway through. Our Mobile Pantry program has seen an average increase of 39% across people, households, and pounds of food served since last year, reflecting the increased need in East Tennessee.
