What stood out for me during this NASEM Health and Medicine Division workshop was the collective dedication of individuals who were driven by a common goal to address issues impacting the most vulnerable populations of our society. This workshop left me reflecting on the insightful words of Anita Duhl Glicken: "Luck happens when preparation and opportunities meet." Her closing remarks resonated deeply with me as she emphasized the need to shift focus from barriers to taking action and driving change. Listening to Federal and state leaders alongside grassroots organizations over the past two days has sparked a thought-provoking question in my mind: Can we apply the same collaborative approach to engage those in power within our legislature? While we have identified solutions, the urgency for change is palpable, and the time for action is now. The CDC's call for a #Planofaction reinforces the notion that we are well aware of the oral health challenges in the US.
