Fascinating behaviour of cells.
❇️ Rosettes in Motion ❇️ When retinoblastoma cells shed into the vitreous cavity, they don’t just drift aimlessly—they attempt to organize themselves into rosettes, a hallmark of their origin. These circular arrangements, with cells surrounding a central lumen, reflect their inherent drive to mimic the retinal layers they originate from, even in the chaos of a fluid environment. In cytology samples, this fascinating behavior offers clues to the biology of these malignant cells, showcasing their attempt to retain structural organization despite being suspended in vitreous fluid. It’s a reminder of their dual nature: chaotic in growth but tethered to a developmental program. Understanding these behaviors aids in better diagnosis and helps refine therapeutic strategies like intravitreal chemotherapy, targeting these resilient cells where they float.
