Get close to your customers!
At Sanas, we believe that to build something truly extraordinary, you need to understand your customers better than they understand themselves. And you can’t do that from a conference room—or a Zoom call.
Meeting customers should be a must for everyone in the company. Not just sales, support or product management, but scientists, engineers, designers, —everyone. Why? Because too often, teams work from their own idea of who the customer is. And those ideas are usually wrong. When you’re disconnected from the real customer, you end up solving the wrong problems.
During the pandemic, I couldn’t rely on virtual meetings to connect with customers. I’d ask them to meet me in parking lots, standing 10 or 12 feet apart, shouting over the distance to communicate. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was real. Those moments taught me more about their frustrations, their needs, and their dreams than a dozen video calls ever could.
If you want to build products that customers love, you have to know them—not a version of them, not a guess about them, but them.
Great products aren’t just built; they’re inspired. And inspiration comes from being close to the people you’re creating for. It’s messy, it’s unfiltered, but it’s absolutely essential.
