Netflix was the only streamer to make the list, while Hallmark is still the reigning holiday hitmaker with three of the top 10. "This holiday season proves that classic Christmas movies never go out of style, with beloved comedies dominating the top five holiday movies of 2024. For three consecutive years, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and Elf have been playing musical chairs for the top spot, proving the timeless charm of classic Christmas comedies. And making its return to the charts this year is the most contentious and, in my opinion, the best holiday movie out there: Die Hard. “While other streamers have taken note and stepped back, Netflix’s original content investment and distribution strategy has swooped in, with Lindsay Lohan emerging as the star to yield serious ROI for the platform and delivering the only streaming original bold enough to challenge these holiday titans. Meanwhile, Hallmark continues to be America’s choice for holiday movies.
