Get your free copy: https://lnkd.in/eEH28P3c We’re thrilled to announce the release of SambaSafety’s “2024 Telematics Report: Connecting the Dots on Strategies & Adoption.” The report explores the current state of telematics, highlighting new data on adoption, challenges and strategic shifts in risk management impacting P&C insurers, brokers and fleets. This year, we partnered with the Risk & Insurance Education Alliance and IoT Insurance Observatory to bring you exclusive insights and perspectives from industry experts: 🔹 Nancy Bendickson, CDS, CSP, ARM, Managing Consultant, Aon 🔹 Matteo Carbone, Founder & Director, IoT Insurance Observatory 🔹 Sara Wojcik, Sr. Director, DOT Compliance & Transportation Safety, Sunbelt Rentals, Inc. Key findings include: 💡 82% of commercial insurers now leverage telematics, up from 65% last year. 💡 51% of fleets plan to expand their telematics devices or providers over the next year. 💡 75% of insurers cite convincing fleets to share telematics data as the most significant barrier, while 74% of fleets indicate they don’t share data simply because they’ve never been asked. Our CEO Matt Scheuing notes, “As the industry faces mounting claims costs, nuclear verdicts and increasing roadway risks, telematics offers an important tool for overcoming these challenges. This report provides in-depth insights into how insurers, brokers and fleets are using telematics to create safer roads and establish more profitable insurance programs.” Read the press release: https://lnkd.in/dMk_dnf2

How have fleets successfully embedded a culture of safety? We recently sponsored a Fleet News roundtable, where industry leaders came together to discuss their unique strategies and goals for mitigating (and even removing) driving risks. Communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement were key themes throughout the conversation. “I’ve always taken a collaborative approach rather than just looking at it from the fleet perspective,” said Jo Coffey, Fleet Manager at City Electrical Factors. “I don’t want to just mitigate risk; I want to remove risk. But it needs a top-down approach. Businesses need the fleet, but they don’t always realize how important it is until something goes wrong.” When discussing measures that can be taken to prevent incidents, SambaSafety's VP of Product Management, Charles Smith, pointed out, “Certain behaviors are a predictor of risk. We can look at a decade of claims and identify the combination of behaviors that show the likelihood of [drivers] having a claim in the next 12 months. It changes the conversations with unions and insurance companies. It enables intervention.” The group also discussed strategies for changing driver attitudes. Andrew Smith, Solution Consultant at SambaSafety, added, “Rewards are one lever to help [drivers] understand they are professional drivers and that they have to take that part of their role seriously. It helps you to be more proactive and manage the risk rather than react after an accident.” The group discussion explored different ways fleets are working to move from reactive to proactive risk management – through safety policies, technology, data insights, positive engagement and training.
